Meet Our Team
Partners Tannis Baker and Rheannon Green were the driving force behind the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance prior to starting Food Tourism Strategies, winning the inaugural Best Culinary Experience award at the 2016 Canadian Tourism Awards, as well as an Alberta Tourism Award for Best Collaborative Marketing for their Cook It Raw Alberta program. In its first year, their Alberta on the Plate festival was a finalist for the Tourism Event or Festival of the Year at the 2019 Alberta Tourism Awards.
TANNIS BAKERDirector of Big Ideas
Tannis brings her knowledge and experience of over 15 years working in beverage-alcohol to the culinary tourism industry at FTS. Tannis was appointed Executive Director of the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance in 2014 as a result of her leadership and deep experience in food marketing, wine and spirits, sales and education fields. In 2015, Tannis was named 50 Most Influential Albertans by Alberta Venture Magazine. Previous to this, Tannis was project lead of market research on Food Marketing & Policy at the University of Calgary, and was Brown-Forman’s Director of Business Development for Western Canada.

RHEANNON GREENDirector of Finer Details
Rheannon brings her years of experience in tourism and the event industries to life in every FTS project. A graduate of the Bachelor of Tourism Management program from Thompson Rivers University in her hometown of Kamloops, BC, Rheannon moved to Edmonton to take on the role of Program Coordinator at the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance in 2013. From executing premiere events to building culinary trails to developing industry toolkits, Rheannon's knowledge and passion for culinary tourism development has continued to flourish as a partner at Food Tourism Strategies. Our resident craft beer expert, Rheannon is working her way towards a Cicerone Certification.
In her spare time, you can find Rheannon sipping local craft brews, attending Highland Dancing events (she is a Member of the Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance!), or playing around with her pup Nacho. |
